Closes 2pm Tuesday 8th April. More competitions to follow – keep your eye on The Knowledge homepage and Twitter feed @KnowledgeCiv for details.
UPDATE 8-April 2:30pm – The winners have been selected and notified. I loved Jess’s idea, which combined humour and cunning (if not bending the rules just a touch to count Ray Mears with his pockets stuffed full of tools as one object…) and she has been sent a pair of tickets for the How To Academy event.
@KnowledgeCiv @guardianscience 1) Ray Mears (& accompanying tools); 2) Medicine & food cultivation books; 3) Antibiotics.

But we had such a strong response to the competition, with so many great suggestions that we felt we had to award two runners-up as well. Well done Alex and James for your entries – I particularly liked your practical mindedness of a solar-powered electronic library and seed potatoes (and of course a decent Scotch…). You’ve both been sent a hardback copy of The Knowledge.
.@KnowledgeCiv #KnowledgeUK 1) Solar powered Laptop with extensive electronic library 2) Good Swiss army knife 3) Water bottle with a filter

And I felt that I also had to give an honourable mention to Simon for his efforts at preserving the finer things in life: jazz and tea!
@KnowledgeCiv #KnowledgeUK 3 items: 1) Gramophone 2) Kind of Blue LP 3) Flask of English Breakfast tea … culture and civilization saved.
